Concealed Carry Encounter

Do you have your concealed carry license…..but want to be sure your equipment will be easy to use if you it need to?

We’ve found that many folks want to practice with live ammunition, but are not interested in a “competition” style event. To fill that void, starting on Saturday, January 14th we will host our next monthly Concealed Carry Encounters. OWB holsterThis is not a competition or event, but rather a “shooting experience”. Shooters will use and evaluate their chosen concealed carry equipment in a minimum of five separate “Encounters”. This is your chance to evaluate how well that holster you bought online and the time you spent practice drawing from it will work when you need them to the most.

The five courses of fire will be repeated monthly for three months allowing participants to gauge personal progress. Participants are timed and scored- however that information is NOT posted publicly. Results are yours to use for self-evaluation purposes only.

Registration is limited to 30 participants. Register online to reserve your slot.

What is an “Encounter”?

Each participant will complete five separate Encounters, each consisting of some combination of the following:

  • One, two or three cardboard silhouette targets representing Threats located at a variety of angles and distances
  • Cardboard silhouette targets that represent Non-Threats
  • Barriers representing hard cover such as walls
  • One Encounter will include a vehicle
  • Participants will perform some Encounters more than once
  • Some Encounters will require participants to move
  • Some Encounters will contain a secondary Encounter

    • Inside the waistband (IWB), Outside the waistband (OWB), and Rhino (between waistband and belt) holsters are acceptable
    • Collapsible, soft holsters for inside the waistband, while sometimes suitable for concealed carry, are undesirable when repetitive drawing and reholstering is required
    • Purses designed for pistol carry are permitted
    • Appendix carry, Shoulder or Serpa style holsters are not permitted
